An integral and innovative component of the Lakeshore welding
program is that students receive instruction in underwater welding.
By partnering with local business (Seabrex Marine, Underwater
Construction Corporation, and Wolfs Marine) the students are provided the opportunity to become PADI open water dive certified. Once certified, students are able to further develop their underwater welding skills by working with industry professionals and burning rod in a dive tank.
Currently, Lakeshore High School is the only school in Michigan to
offer such training. It is one of the Lakeshore Technical Academy’s missions to place students in high skill, high wage, and high demand positions. This program is further strengthened in our local community by partnering with post-secondary education institutions. Check out the links below to see dive academies that will further their skills and opportunities.
